The Quarterback News that Trojan Fans were Looking for...
2008-08-19 06:11:36

The Trojans moved out of their dorms yesterday and into their regular living arrangements for the year. This means gameday is almost here and we continue to battle the clock on Sanchez's injury. Mark was seen throwing and lightly jogging with PC along the sidelines; here's his thoughts after practice:

"I felt good putting pressure on it. I'm optimistic about it, but I have to be full-speed by next Monday."

The plan for the next couple days is for Mark to begin throwing to receivers. If the swelling goes down, which the quarterback insists is the main problem right now, then he should see the field on August 30th for the Trojans opener in Charlottesville.

Both Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator, Steve Sarkisian, made it clear that Sanchez under is center is a real possiblity. Steve was also quick to point out that if Mark is healthy, the job is his. A Virginia gameplan needs to start being implemented next week, around the same time Sanchez hopes to start fully practicing.

Mustain and Corp had a couple mediocre days on the practice field on Monday. Corp, again, probably with the edge. The Trojan coaching staff will certainly have learned a lot about both these young quarterbacks at the end of all this. And to be honest, I think this fall camp showed Pete Carroll that he made the right choice in annointing the starting position to Sanchez back in April. Mustain and Corp will have their time but I don't think it's now.

Fight on Mark, get healthy!

Incase you missed it last week, watch Will Ferrell's Tribute to Pete Carroll. Too funny...
