Photo-USC Rips It

Tonight was the Trojans' second scrimmage of fall. Here are some notes and thoughts...

Mustain got off to a rough start. His first pass went for a touchdown...to Shareece Wright.

Injuries didn't stop Travon Patterson (who caught a TD from Mustain) or Joe McKnight (a couple BIG returns in the special teams department) from playing tonight. This was a big night in Pete's eyes and consequently the eyes of the team. Lots of intensity.

The consequences of that intensity? Cary Harris might be out with a separated shoulder after meeting AB at full tilt. (Update: Shoulder sprain, day-to-day)

A Corp pass was tipped and picked off by Rey Rey. Just another day at the office.

Stafon Johnson burst for a 40+ yard run, but was run down and creatively tackled by Clay Matthews (billiards style with Kristofer O'Dowd).

This report couldn't come at a better time. Each passing day leads me closer to the thought that Mark is the starter come opening day.

It's hard to get upset over the release of the first AP Top 25 of the year. But I still managed to anyways. Atleast, the top two teams aren't in the same division (my eyes are in the back of my head right now). Regardless, it's exciting to think that September 13th could be a battle for the #1 ranking in the country. Until then, lots of work to be done.
