Turnover Wednesday: Football News and Notes
2008-08-13 20:27:13

Brian Cushing and "quarterback killer", Rey Maualuga, have been named to the watch list for the Butkus Award, given to the nation's top linebacker each season.

Byers was practicing this morning for the first real time this fall after missing significant time to a nasty illness.

Defense was terrific once again, forcing two interceptions (Cushing and Will Harris) and 1 fumble that led to a safety. Turnovers really coming in big numbers this camp. You can take this in one of two ways. 1) Pete Carroll's re-emphasis on turnovers is paying off or 2) The offense is really out of sync since Mark went down. And actually, it's probably somewhere in between.

Marc Tyler knocked off a 90+ yard run for the offense's only real highlight from the morning. He's had some nagging injuries, but I think we'll see more of this if he can stay healthy.

The offense really pulled up their socks in the afternoon. Mustain and Corp were slinging touchdowns all over the field. McCoy showed why he's still number the #1 tight end on the depth chart with a spectacular grab-it-outta-the-sky catch from Mitch.

For any NCAA or Madden players out there, you'll appreciate this. Have a look at this great use of the stadium sound feature in NCAA Football '09 (and some pretty good gameplay too):

Hope you enjoy the site changes, this place is always evolving.
