A Review Of USC's 2010 Recruiting Class - Dion Bailey
2010-03-25 18:06:44

So far I've looked at three incoming recruits from the offensive side of the ball. Now it's time to take a glimpse into the future of USC's defensive secondary:

What They're Saying About Him:

"Looks like a rocked-up, undersized linebacker in person. He has athletic legs and a very muscular upper body" "...tad stiff in the hips and will need to work on flexibility" "One of the best ball-hawks in the country, as he will sacrifice his body to make the pick." "Bailey will most likely redshirt as a freshman since the defensive back position is so reactive and coverage can be complicated at times." - Barry Every (Rivals)

"Bailey is an exceptional deep safety. He has the size of a strong safety but the athleticism and ball skills to play the free safety position." "Makes acrobatic plays and can go over the shoulder of the receiver to make a play on the ball." "Not quite as sound at run support as pass defense. Not a solid tackler in the openfield; sometimes dips his head and ankle tackles." "Bailey is a very good athlete that can play early at the next level as a safety and should be a major producer at the next level." - ESPN/Scouts Inc.

Not to put too much pressure on Dion, but after watching his scout tape, he reminds me a lot of a stronger version of Reggie Nelson. He plays very instinctively, and he's extemely talented with the ball in the air. I think we've landed ourselves a California-bred gem. ESPN and Rivals are polar opposites in terms of when they think he will play, but if he continues to work hard, I think there's no question that we have a future Trojan starter on our hands, maybe even a really special one. Fight on, Dion!
